A MESSAGE FOR my valued patients
Eye Optical Studio Transitions to Envision Optical
Your Ongoing Comprehensive Eye Care in Tweed Heads.
It is certainly with mixed feelings that I have recently decided to retire. Most importantly, I would like to thank you for your patronage over the years. I have been very fortunate to enjoy a long and satisfying career providing eye care with a great support team and will miss the many close friendships that have developed over the years.
Fortunately, Andrew Bowden and his staff at Envision Optical are also like-minded, independent practitioners who have also serviced the Tweed and Gold Coast for many years. I have no doubt they will also offer you honest, friendly, service in the future, and with access to your previous records, ongoing quality eye care.
Kind regards,
Richard Holdom

Experience You Can Trust
Leading the Way In Advanced Eye Care
For the past 13+ years Envision have conducted over 80,000 eye exams.
Andrew believes in a patient-first approach, where building strong relationships and understanding each individual’s unique needs are at the core of exceptional eye care. His commitment to patient well-being goes beyond just treatment—he’s passionate about helping people achieve the best possible vision for a better quality of life.
-
Since graduating from QUT with honours in 1995, Andrew has worked in private practice on the Gold Coast and New Farm in Brisbane. In 2001, he returned to Visions and became a partner in January 2003. After becoming Managing Partner in 2006, Andrew was responsible for the oversight of the ten Visions practices, including business operations and staff management. In addition to this, he also managed to see patients 3-4 days a week!
In 2010, due to changes in the industry and different ideas on how to move forward, the partners disbanded the Visions Group, and Andrew decided to form his own independent eye care brand that could offer Gold Coast residents a unique individualised experience. A local brand, with local relationships, and genuinely part of the local community.
With his wife Honor, an artist, they conceived an eye care brand that would truly create individual solutions for each unique client/patient that walked in the door.
Andrew usually consults at Treetops, Burleigh Waters, and Tweed Heads South each week. His professional passion is providing quality vision and eye health outcomes to his patients.
Andrew is excited to be delivering industry-leading technology in preventative vision and eye health management, including vision correction utilising orthokeratology (Ortho-K) and myopia control lenses, preventative eye health care via nutrition and diet management, particularly in the areas of macular health, dry eyes, and computer-based therapy for binocular vision disorders and reading difficulties.
He is passionate about Envision using cutting edge technology such as OCT scanning, MPOD macular health measurement, and digital scans to provide optimal eye health care. Andrew was one of the first optometrists in Queensland to offer IPL therapy for Dry Eyes.
Andrew completed the SUNY Ocular Therapeutics course in 1997, a post-graduate qualification in business management in 2002 and several short courses through the Australian Institute of Management. He underwent specialty training in Ortho-K in 2004. In 2009, Andrew completed the Graduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics at QUT and became certified to prescribe ocular medications.
He served as a clinical supervisor at QUT from 1998-2000. In 2011, Andrew became a member of the Ocular Nutrition Society of America, to further his knowledge in the area of nutrition in eye care. In 2012, he became an accredited aviation vision examiner for the Civil Aviation Safety Authority, a role he performed until 2023.
In his spare time, Andrew enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children, listening to music and attending live shows, travel, cooking and eating out, reading, politics and world events, watching cricket, rugby and basketball, and fishing.

Ready for Your Comprehensive Eye Exam?
Routine eye tests play a significant role in ensuring that your eyes stay healthy. They not only tell your optometrist whether you need to start wearing glasses or change prescriptions, but they are also necessary for detecting common eye-related medical conditions.
For most adults, our Gold Coast optometrists recommend an eye examination every two years. Adults over the age of 61 require annual eye tests, as do those with risk factors such as diabetes or high blood pressure.
Our goal at Envision Optical is for your vision test to be a pleasant, informative, and comfortable experience, utilising the latest technology to ensure the most accurate results.
-
Is it time for your child's eye exam?
Children face unique visual demands, from learning to read and write to following along in the classroom and developing motor skills through play. Vision quality refers not just to seeing clearly but to accomplishing essential tasks for their development.
At Envision Optical, with clinics in Burleigh Waters and Tweed Heads, we take special care to ensure your child has the vision clarity needed to succeed. By conducting in-depth children's vision assessments, we aim to:
Prevent vision problems before they develop or progress.
Treat existing issues early.
Support your child’s ability to thrive in the classroom and during play.
Common treatments include glasses, coordination exercises, and limiting digital device use. Regular outdoor play is also beneficial for eye health.
Signs of Vision Problems:
Squinting to see distant objects
Lack of interest in learning
Complaints of discomfort or eye rubbing
Sensitivity to bright light
Difficulty focusing or paying attention
If your child is experiencing any of these symptoms, schedule an exam with us today to ensure their vision is supporting their development.
-
Can nutrition and diet contribute to eye health?
At Envision Optical, we believe in the strong connection between diet, nutrition, and eye health. Our approach to eye care includes educating patients about how to lower the risk of certain eye conditions through healthy eating.
Dr. Andrew Bowden, your optometrist in Burleigh Waters and Tweed Heads, recommends incorporating the following foods into your diet:
Green leafy vegetables: spinach, broccoli, rocket, cabbage
Orange/yellow vegetables and fruit: carrots, pumpkin, oranges, squash
Blue/purple vegetables and fruit: beetroot, blueberries
Red/pink vegetables and fruit: red grapes, cherries, raspberries, capsicum
Fish: tuna, salmon, mackerel (3-4 times a week)
For optimal health, dietitians recommend two servings of fruit and five servings of vegetables daily (1 serving = ½ cup).
To learn more about how nutrition impacts your vision, explore our Envision Optical website or book an appointment to discuss your eye health with Dr. Bowden.
